BYD and Horizon Robotics Announce Partnership on Journey™ 5 Computing Solutions for Vehicles SOP in 2023

Horizon Robotics, a leading provider of computing solutions for ADAS and smart driving, has announced its latest collaboration with BYD Co, Ltd (“BYD”), China’s best-selling electric vehicle brand, to equip BYD vehicles with Horizon’s latest generation automotive-grade computing solution –
Journey™ 5.

With a target SOP of mid-2023, BYD is the first automaker to publicly announce the mass-production of Horizon’s Journey 5, with the intention to expand the deployment to more vehicle models in the future. Journey 5 is a high-performance and energy-efficient computing solution optimized for advanced assisted driving applications. It features high power efficiency and cost effectiveness, powered by Horizon’s proprietary accelerator BPU™. Other top automakers such as SAIC Motor, Great Wall Motors and Changan Automobile also expressed mass-production intent with Journey 5 when it was first unveiled in July 2021.

China’s automotive industry is accelerating the development of electrification, digitalization and automated driving. BYD was the largest NEV seller in China in 2021 with about 600,000 vehicles sold. The collaboration marks another significant milestone in the two companies’ long-term strategic relationship. BYD participated in Horizon’s previous fundraising and was among the first group of top automobile companies that expressed production intent for Journey 5. Going forward, BYD and Horizon will work closely together to create a safe and comfortable smart driving experience for more consumers and accelerate the development of China’s smart vehicle industry.
